Yesterday was parent/teacher conferences for our 3 daughters. Aleksa is a Freshman at the high school, Arynna is in 5th grade & Alyvia is in 3rd grade. All of the conferences went well...our girls are making good grades, are good listeners, don't talk in class when they're not supposed to...great things to hear. Each of the teachers I spoke with made a comment about how quiet our girls were, & asked me if they were like that at home. What exactly do teachers want?! If the children are qu... Yesterday was my Meet & Greet at Darla's Flower & Coffee Market, from 9 - 12, & then at Anne's Attic, from 1 - 4. What a beautiful, sunny day...lot's of people...a good day to sell books! I sold 11, 10 at Darla's & 1 at Anne's! Most of the orders were pre-orders, 8 out of the 11, with me taking orders, & at Vintage Vogue, an event on Nov 14th at LeVenue, a banquet hall in Valley Center, I will sign & hand out the books. I would love to have all of the books already on hand, & just be able... Continue reading ...
Be Careful What You Ask For...

Yesterday I received my 1st bit of criticism about my book, that someone who had purchased a copy online was "disappointed that it had so few words on each page". I kind of half-way expected some people to feel this way, & even explained on my Facebook page that the book was comprised of my thoughts & that it wasn't like a long novel, & that I hoped no one felt cheated. Obviously, this certain "someone" never saw my post on Facebook! lol I think what bothered me most was the fact that she ha... Continue reading ...

"our committe (SIS - sister in spirit) holds an annual Christmas tea the first Saturday morning in December. We have been having about 200 women attending. We, of course, have yummy food, beautifully decorated tables and some type of speaker or music or both. Someone brought your story to my attention and wondered if you might be a possible speaker for us. Our program is usually about 30 - 45 minutes long. Speakers have been Christian fiction author's who have shared their personal sto... Continue reading ...

The newspaper articles are doing their jobs, as far as publicity goes. First, when I went to pick up my 5th grade daughter, Arynna, & my 3rd grade daughter, Alyvia, from school this afternoon, the bus driver asked me where she could pick up a copy of my book; it turns out her daughter was involved in a bad car accident this past year, & has gone through many surgeries. She said she thought it would be good for her to read my book. I told her that's why I wrote it, to inspire & encourage ot... Continue reading ...

Well, my first book signing didn't go that well...there happened to be a volleyball and a karate tournament going on at the same time...I ended up just leaving the books with Anne...we'll see if she has any luck selling them in her store. One interesting thing occurred, though...the first two customers in the store started talking to me, and believe it or not, they were the sister & daughter of the man who lent my mom his travel trailer to live in while I was in the hospital! Completely sur... Continue reading ...
Good day
Posted by Lynda Haines Schommer on Wednesday, September 9, 2009,
Today was a good day...I received the books I ordered, plus I received the funds (THANK YOU, JODY!) to more agressively begin my marketing campaign! Starting tomorrow, we're going at this fastly and furiously! :P A press release, email marketing campaign and book reviews are the only way to get the right people to take a serious look at my book, so that it ends up in the hands of those who will most be helped by it! God has provided just what I need, and He will continue to do so! I have ... Continue reading ...

Valley Center woman's road to recovery
WICHITA, Kansas--On July 24, 1986, 15-year-old Lynda Schommer was like any other teen as she rode on a moped with her boyfriend in Wichita.
But in an instant, their lives were transformed when a car hit them and Lynda went flying. She was in a coma for two months, and had to re-learn everything including how to write.
"I was very angry at the beginning," said Lynda. "Just angry that I was kept alive."
But Lynda pressed on and as part of her therapy, ... Continue reading ...
